they ignored it and went for my thick arse supports instead. I made a 8 block long pole and tried to slow them with barbed wire. Beware to much barbed wire traps in their path. They don't path over side plates or poles easily for some reason. Try and conga line them for easy headshots by letting them get to your fighting position via a half pole or something similar.(can bonk or stab for a stagger and they tumble down.

Otherwise layer up normal block plus two plates equals three layers to beat through. Depending on your biome make sure to protect against birds and cop vomit(rule of thumb is if they don't see they don't spit) because cops are effing snipers with that puke. Unfortunately catwalk basea are OP in this alpha. I think that putting too many traps on the walkway will cause your visitors to avoid it and start bashing your base pillars instead and you don't want that, unless you place iron bars instead of solid blocks on your base floor, so you can shoot through them.Įlevation 5 blocks or higher is key it forces their pathing in the way you want not the way they want. It's a very basic, very easy design that will hold up wonderfully until demo zombies start appearing.

Finally, make sure you make an arch over the last hatch (essentially make it into a doorway) so that the zombies can't jump over it and you can bash them with impunity. Make sure you make the main base area wider and if possible have an opening from which you can shoot down the frustrated zombies who decide to start bashing your stairs/pillars after falling instead of trying to reach you again. Add spike traps on the ground, on either side of the walkway and voila, you have instant zombie souvlaki. This makes them jump, which in turn causes half of them (or more) to go sideways and end up falling off (shooting at them makes this even more likely). I've made a single-block elevated walkway with three iron hatches. I could probably quickly rebuild it, but it might be hairy for a minute or two. I've ugraded them, and many around it to steel, but if they ever blow up that walkway, they'd start attacking the silos, on which everything I have is on top of. The only downside is that they have to walk across several vertical bars blocks, after going up a ramp.

Even having a couple of demos blow up didn't take out any concrete blocks. I'm at day 82, and they've never done any significant damage to my base. If they do, they come to my horde base, and I just go down a ladder to fight them behind my barriers. The biggest benefit I've found is that I'm so high up that the zombies rarely notice me. Like him, I built my horde base below my main base, supported between the concrete silos. It's easy to clear out and eventually expand the top area out. I followed one Gun, Steel, and Nerd's series, and built a base on top of the 8 concrete silos with the metal building on top of it.
